Meet our Founder

Imani

Imani Hunter, founder and certified mat Pilates instructor of MonuMovement Wellness Studio, is a Philly native, mother, and former corporate executive turned fitness entrepreneur. Her journey began with a mission to make Pilates more accessible in both price and proximity for black and brown communities - espeically in her hometown of Philadelphia.

Imani has been a student and lover of Pilates for three years, and wanted to share her love of the exercise with her community. She received her mat training and certification through Balanced Body and has been teaching since February 2025. Following a series of highly successful pop-up classes, she opened the MonuMovement studio in November 2025 to support her rapidly growing Pilates community.

In addition to teaching at MonuMovement, Imani is a strength training coach at [Solidcore] in Newtown Square, PA (est. 2025), and other Philadelphia area studios. She looks forward to completing her full comprehensive certification across all Pilates apparatuses and continuing to expand MonuMovement as a safe movement space focused on community, accessibility, and transformation.

Meet our New Instructor!

Ne'Shell

Coming to MonuMovement October 2026!

Ne’Shell has always been passionate about building community and the power of intentional movement. She was introduced to Pilates nearly 10 years ago through an undergraduate health promotion course and was later certified in both Functional Movement and Mat Pilates (I, II, & III). Ne'Shell is a founding instructor of House of Wellness, Cincinnati's first Black, woman-owned mat and reformer Pilates studio.

After relocating to the Philadelphia-area to pursue her Ph.D, Ne’Shell sought out a studio she could call home. MonuMovement Wellness Studio quickly became her place of refuge, offering a moment to exhale and a welcoming, supportive community.

Ne’Shell is so excited to return to instruction and take on this new role within the studio! She is passionate about cultivating that same safe and welcoming space that embraced her for others while offering a challenging yet accessible full-body workout. Grateful for the warm reception she’s received, she looks forward to growing alongside the MonuMovement community and continuing to support others on their wellness journeys.
